Newlywed Dining Room and Kitchen
Newlywed Entry Hall

A lovely couple came to us as the construction of their new home was nearing completion. At the time, they were living in a one bedroom apartment so they needed help selecting furniture for every room in their new home except for the guest bedroom.

Their style is a cozy, non-fussy California aesthetic that was translated into their new Philadelphia home through a layering of patterned rugs, warm mid-toned woods, matte black metals and accents of ocean blue.

A Newlywed Couple Comes Home

  • The main level of the 4-story townhouse has an open floor plan. At the top of the stair the first space you see is the dining area, which has minimal furniture with warm wood tones that are complimented by a high-contrast white dining table surface and black chairs and console. The living room section to the left frames a cozy seating area in front of an angled fireplace.

Custom window treatments finish off the space and provide visual privacy while still allowing natural light to filter through.

There's moments where I walk into a room in our house and I still can't believe it’s ours.  Shila was able to recognize and understand our style immediately.  In the end, she made the entire process a breeze and helped us prioritize what needed to be done.  My wife and I could not be happier with the finished product.

The master bedroom is full of neutrals offset by a deep blue accent wall on the headboard wall. The couple upgraded from their now guest room bedroom set to a king-sized bed with simple walnut nightstands. The client invested in custom blackout roller shades and blackout drapery at the balcony which allows for a better night’s sleep. If custom blackout shades aren’t within your budget for a bedroom there are other options. The deep blue tones were also used as an accent color in the bedding and a trunk at the end of the bed provides additional storage.

At times, one half of this newlywed couple is able to work from home. We balanced a more masculine desk and tufted sofa with a transitional, distressed-look rug to ground the entire space. The large windows in this space, make working from home feel far from isolating.
